SCRIPTURE: EXODUS 15:22-16:36 THEME: THE LORD PROVIDES FOR ALL OUR NEEDS How much love does God continue to shower on us even when we grumble and complain against Him? He never stops loving us or looking after all of our needs. In our devotional passage we see that immediately after the Israelites had crossed the Red Sea they started grumbling and complaining about water and food. Never mind that God had saved them from Pharaoh's army and subsequently drowned all the Egyptians. Never mind that God had demonstrated His great power in bringing all the plagues against Egypt and her false gods. The people forgot these great miracles in view of their thirst and hunger. In spite of their short memories God patiently met their needs. God does the same for us today. He loves us and wants us to love Him. As we recognize what God does for us we submit our will to His will. We lovingly obey Him and seek to do His will in all things.
As you read the passage recognize how easily the Israelites forgot what God had done for them. Were they grateful for God's blessings? How did they treat their leaders? Have each family member name one way that God has provided for his/her needs. For example, God has helped us by giving us a family, a home, food, clothing, and friends. Use this as a time to express thanks to God for all He has done and close the devotional with a prayer of thanksgiving. Jim Leadabrand Week1| Week2| Week3| Week4| Week5| Week6| Week7| Week9| Week12 |
